"For over a decade I walked the edges of this small town, accidentally accumulating an archive of fragmentary notes, photographs and debris. My impulse was to try and share this hallucinatory evidence and so in the moment when the small town's magic hour begins to envelope our histories, dissolve our maps, the press was born. I wanted the press to be vivid, accessible and collaborative, at once specific and universal.
Everything began in the lane—a short cut to work and an unseen realm. Its atmosphere was contained within The Lull, the evidence revealed in The Accidental Archive. Everything connected. Walking was the method, collaboration was the key. Without a doubt, the work of visionary writer Nick Papadimitriou has been the most critical influence on the press, particularly his description of our work as resembling, 'scraps of metal found in the tussocky weeds of a railyard, a scribbled note found and picked up in the street, presences recorded against any better judgement.'"
