"Surrealist Editions was established in 2007 as the publishing arm of Leeds Surrealist Group, which was founded in 1994. Our first venture into publishing, MANTICORE/Surrealist Communication, commenced in 1997 and ran for eight numbers, the final issue bringing the series to a close in 2006. At this point, we decided to embark upon a more ambitious publishing project, with the aim of producing limited editions books, of a high production quality, that not only reflect current surrealist activity, but which are in themselves surrealist. In 2008, under the auspices of Surrealist Editions, we launched a new journal, Phosphor, with the intention of presenting evidence of Surrealism's continuing creative luminescence, with much of its content drawing upon our group’s collective investigations and explorations."
